International day of families 2022: Families and urbanization.

Family is not an important thing, it is everything.” – Michael J. Fox

Families are like branches on a tree. While we grow in different directions, our roots remain as one. On international day of families, we celebrate all the traditions that families share. Every family is unique. There are countless stories , memories and adventures we personally cherish even though we experience them collaboratively. Without families, we would not have a society. Families are the backbone of a society. They form an integral part in social development in the leaders we raise, the policies we develop, the rules that guide morality, the integrity we uphold and the legacy we leave behind. Families are not perfect. Some are made of single parents raising children alone, others, due to unfortunate events are made of loving guardians who raise kids that are not their biological ones. Others are raised by both parents. A family does not need to be perfect, it just needs to be united because their contribution can corrupt or improve a society. The 2022 international day of families’ theme is “families and urbanization.” It focused on the impact of urbanization on the well being of families. Unlike in the past where only men were the bread winners, urbanization had made it possible for women to work and earn as much as their male counterparts. Urbanization has also led to delayed child bearing, smaller family size and rise in divorce rates and single parenting. All of these changes can have an impact on the well being of families, and particularly on children. Families can also be your workmate, we spend most of our time at work than with our family. While we do not choose family, we choose friends are colleagues. At Transolution services, our culture is embedded in the family ideology. It is not about taking people at face value but going beyond the expected to build each other because when one succeeds, we all do. As we commemorate this important day, let’s remember the powerful words of Hillary Clinton. “It is not enough to preach about family values. We must value families.”
