Today, we celebrate the world environment day with the slogan: Only One Earth. We are reminded of the big role we must play in environmental conservation. The world environment day calls for transformative changes to policies and choices to enable cleaner, greener and sustainable living in harmony with nature. It also emphasizes that planet earth is still the only livable planet we have and to push for transformative actions to reset the balance between people and the natural world. Young people especially, need to be front leaders in environmental conservation, so as to secure a healthier and safer future. However, this is a responsibility that is not limited to age, as we are all beneficiaries of a good environment. To help conserve the environment, we can participate in various ways such as; getting involved in environmental protests and campaigns, garbage picking and recycling initiatives, participating in tree planting, cleaning up beaches to save our ocean and marine life, using social media platform to promote environmental awareness, and encouraging friends and family to join us in environmental conservation. It is our collective responsibility to take care of our planet, as it is the only thing we have in common. Climate change, natural and biodiversity loss, pollution and waste are evidence of it’s negative outcome. People all over the world have began experiencing the effects of climate change. We can still escape the worst impacts by stepping up our efforts and building a safer future. The solution to this dilemma is to make our economies and societies inclusive, and more connected to nature. We must shift from harming the environment to healing it. The future of this planet and the next generation lies in our hands. HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY!!
